What kind of Hawaii family vacation are you in the mood for? Do your kids love making sand castles and jumping in the ocean? Do you want to learn more about the culture or history? Work on that tan of yours while on a Hawaii Vacation

Do you want to participate in one of the many fun sports that Hawaii has to offer? Is this a last minute Hawaii family vacation and you need tickets NOW? Any way you approach it, this Hawaii family vacation will go down as one of your favorite family vacation getaways. Your kids will have a blast and you will come away with some awesome Hawaii pictures. As mentioned before, there are six major islands on Hawaii and of these islands, you will have to pick one, maybe two and possibly three islands that you can visit during your Hawaii family vacation. Of course this is all dictated by how much time and money you have. Here is a brief rundown of the islands and what they have to offer:

The Big Island

This island offers some of the most diverse scenery your family will probably ever experience in one day. You can go from the rainforests of the wettest city in America: Hilo, to the harsh lava plains in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. You can climb from sea level to the top of Mauna Kea (just under 14,000 ft.) You can trek across newly formed lava, to swimming with the dolphins in Kealakekua Bay. The Big Island has a bit of everything and is a must see on your Hawaii family vacation.

Oahu:

This is the most populated Hawaiian island and therefore provides the most activities for families looking to keep their kids busy. There are numerous beaches to swim, surf, tan, and play in, most notably Waikiki Beach and Hanauma Bay. There are waterslides to zoom down at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park. There are all sorts of unique sea creatures and wildlife to be visited at Sea Life Park, Honolulu Zoo, and Waikiki Aquarium. Your kids may also be fascinated by the Polynesian Cultural Center where they can watch a luau. If you or a child is a history buff, we strongly recommend a visit to Pearl Harbor. There are numerous businesses that offer surfing, fishing, and scuba diving. Of course, if your kids are older and they like to shop, this island is the mecca of shopping. You will find the International Marketplace across from Nahua St. and intersecting Kuhio St. to be an awesome place to bargain for deals.

Maui:

Probably the biggest family attraction on Maui is the Maui Ocean Center where kids can spend a day with ocean naturalists and learn about Hawaiian marine life. Other than the ocean center, we feel that much of what you find on Maui can be found in Oahu as well, so you could probably leave this island to the honeymooners!

Kauai:

The island of Kauai is best explored on foot, since only 10 percent of it is accessible by road. This is the island for families that love to hike, camp and backpack. The most famous place on Kauai is the Na Pali Coast which has all the razorback mountains and lush vegetation that you usually see when picking up a brochure on the island. It will be one of the hardest places you ever left! However, there are many other activities to do here like windsurfing, scuba diving, fishing and golf.

Molokai:

This island has some of the longest white sand beaches in Hawaii and they are virtually empty. Your kids can run and play to their hearts content and you never have to worry about them bothering anyone else. Known as the "Friendly Island," your Hawaiian family vacation may be the most relaxed and peaceful if you spend time here.

Lanai:

This small island boasts scenic views, two challenging golf courses, and excellent snorkeling in Hulopoe Beach. Your kids can scope out the grounded Liberty Ship, rusting away out in Kaiolohia Bay. If you are looking to get away from other people and spend time with your family on a beach all by yourself, this is another great island to visit.
