Places to eat in Redding
If you are planning a family vacation getaway in Redding, finding a place to eat will be important. We have long considered Redding an area that has an overabundance of places to eat, however, if you are a traveler and want a wide variety, this overabundance is a good thing. Afterall, who wants to wait if you are hungry?
Our personal favorite place to eat is Fat Daddy's Gourmet BBQ. I absolutely love their pulled pork BBQ sandwich with a BBQ potato on the side. It is absolutely to die for and it will only cost you about $6.50! Another favorite is their ribs. You will notice they have a good selection with lots of quantity and therefore you won't go away wanting more. To find them, you will get on Cypress Ave. and head east towards Churn Creek Ave. At Churn Creek, you will turn right and head south to Hartnell Ave. At Hartnell, you will turn right (west) and go about 200 feet. You will see Fat Daddy's red and yellow building on the right hand side. It is across the street from a Fire station. You can also call ahead at 530-221-6270.
If you are like most vacationers, you will probably stay in one of the hotels that line Cypress Ave. or Hilltop Ave. If this is the case, you will see that both of these roads have numerous restaurants lined along them, ranging from Mexican, American, and Japanese.
If you are in the mood for Thai food, we highly recommend Nipa's Thai Cuisine at 2600 Churn Creek Ave. To get there, you follow the same directions as Fat Daddy's, except, once you get on Churn Creek, you will look on your right hand side for the Nipa's Thai sign. It is hard to miss. You can also call them at 530-221-0966.
If you want faster food, then you will want to drive north on Hilltop Dr. until you see Dana Dr. (you will drive under an overpass then turn right at the second stop light) then turn right. You can drive down Dana Drive and see a wide variety of fast food and sandwich places. An example of the variety of restaurants along Dana Dr. are: Jamba Juice, Panda Express, Olive Garden, Red Robin, Carls Jr. In N Out, Red Lobster, and several others. The Discovery Village is a good place to find dessert or light meals. It is on the south side of Dana Drive, across from the mall.
