Many people who know of Redding California, recognize it as the city they drove through on their way up to Oregon. For those who took the effort to stop, they don't soon forget Redding CA.
The city started out as gold mining town in 1848 when Pierson Reading discovered gold. It quickly began to grow with the addition of a railway station in 1872 and was incorporated in 1887. With the building of Shasta Dam in the late 30's and early 40's, Redding California had established itself as a town. Over the years, the town would grow at a slow and steady rate, but not until the 90's, did the town really start to explode and establish itself as a little city.
Many people who lived in larger cities, began moving to the city of Redding to find a more peaceful life where the community was friendly and warm. Some moved to Redding California, because they were attracted to the many outdoor activities that lay so close by. Others found a city that offered a lower cost of living and quality of life, difficult to find in California.
