Trip Planning before your family travels.
Trip planning and family travel have often been synonymous with pulling your hair out and yelling at the kids to quit fighting. If you have been trip planning your next family vacation getaway and have been dreading the trip to your destination, then you have found the right place.
Here you will learn some great
trip planning
tips. You will also find that family travel really can be fun if you do the proper planning and preparation.
Have you ever gone on a family road trip and found yourself yelling at the kids? You are not alone! Usually kids are just bored or tired when they act up. The easiest remedy for these situations are to try and cut them off before they have a chance to happen. You can do this by preparing in advance, be forewarned, however, that you can't stop the fighting completely, just keep it to a minimum.
Some of the ways that you can eliminate fighting are to bring along plenty of games, yeah this includes video games. (Sometimes hearing that annoying video game music is preferential to breaking up a fight). You can also make up games like trying to see who can spot the most different license plates (try find all 50-betcha can't do it)! You can try and run through the alphabet by spotting letters on license plates, billboards, sides of trucks, etc. You can bring along books and take turns with your spouse, reading out loud to your kids. If you don't like to read out loud you can go to
StoryReader.com
and purchase stories that actually read to your child as they look at the page. These books come in a wide variety of selections from Nickelodeon and Disney to the Bible. The best thing about these stories is that they are compact and don't involve cassette tapes or items to lose.
Another great trip planning and family travel technique is properly organize your families clothes and accessories. Pack each child's clothes, toothbrush, and shoes into one suitcase, backpack or bag, then label it with your kid's name. When you head out the door, tell your kids to grab their bag with their name on it. This will save you a lot of time in packing.
Another trip planning technique that stresses a lot of families out is how they will pay for their family vacation travel. Here is a great idea that my family has been doing for several years and really helps: whenever you buy something and get change, save it until the end of the day. When you get home, put it into a jar or container; when it gets full, get a larger one. Whenever you find money in your pockets or your kids pockets before doing laundry, throw them in this container. Whenever you see a penny, nickel, dime or quarter lying on the ground, pick it up and throw it in the container...you get the idea. When you are ready to take off on your family vacation getaway, bring this container into your bank and change it for bills. You will be surprised how much you have saved up! This should be able to buy a few meals for your family on the road.
When you stay at hotels or motels on the way, pick a budget motel that has a continental breakfast. Remember you are just needing a place to sleep, shower, and eat in the morning. You can often save a lot of money if you choose not to spring for the hotel with a pool and hot tub.
